Sync runs from Apple Health

Connect Apple Health in the Steev iPhone app and your runs sync on their own — from an Apple Watch, your iPhone, or a running app that writes to Health.

Apple Health sync happens in the Steev iPhone app. The website can't read Health, so connect it once from your iPhone and your runs show up everywhere.

Connect

  1. Open Steev on your iPhone and go to your Profile.
  2. Tap Connect Apple Health.
  3. Allow the data Apple asks about. To start, Steev reads your runs from the last 90 days.

From then on, runs sync on their own in the background and whenever you open the app. Sync now on the same card sends anything waiting straight away.

What Steev reads

Your workouts, with their heart rate, distance, active energy and elevation — plus steps, running power, stride length, vertical oscillation and ground contact time. Apple lets you allow or decline each one. Steev only reads: it never writes to or changes your Health data.

Walking is the one kind of workout Steev leaves out.

Runs from other apps

A running app that writes its workouts to Apple Health reaches Steev the same way, Garmin Connect included. Some of these apps — Garmin Connect among them — write no route or laps to Health, so Steev can't show splits for those runs, and cadence is estimated. On a Garmin, the Steev field sends laps directly.

A run didn't show up

  • Check it is in Health. Open the Health app and look for it among your workouts. If it isn't there, the app that recorded it hasn't written it to Health yet.
  • Open Steev. Background sync is up to iOS and can be delayed — for example after the app was force-quit. Opening the app catches up.
  • Check access. If you declined, turn it back on in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Health ▸ Steev, or in the Health app under your profile ▸ Apps.

Delete a run

Delete a run in Health and Steev removes it too — unless it completed a session from your plan, or you also logged it by hand or from your Garmin. Those stay in Steev.

Disconnect

Tap Disconnect on the Apple Health card in your Profile. To revoke access entirely, use iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Health ▸ Steev.
