Ultraventure 5 keeps the stack of the Ultraventure 4 and tweaks the ZipFoam midsole around it: a cushioned trail shoe with a 5 mm drop on a 35 mm stack. The Vibram XS Trek outsole has a lug pattern that copes with trail, gravel and road, and the mesh upper now takes a universal gaiter system.
It suits you if your trail days run for hours and cross a mix of dirt, gravel and the road home. At 303 g it carries its cushioning steadily across all of it.
It is not a technical-terrain shoe or a quick one. It is built for comfort over distance, so steep, rocky ground and fast efforts are better served elsewhere, and the waterproof GTX version is a separate model.
