The Peregrine is Saucony's do-most-things trail shoe, and the 16 keeps it light. A 32 mm heel and a 4 mm drop sit low enough to feel the ground, 4 mm Vibram lugs bite into mud and loose rock, and a rock guard under the forefoot takes the sting out of the stones you land on.
It suits you if your running is genuinely off-road — singletrack, wet roots, steep descents — and you want to move quickly rather than be cushioned through it. Wide and Gore-Tex versions exist for the feet and the weather that need them.
It is not a road shoe. Those lugs are loud and wear fast on pavement, and at 32 mm of heel it does not have the stack to protect you across an all-day mountain effort.
