The Axon is Saucony's cushioned trainer for people who do not want to spend trainer money, and the 3 sits on a bed of PWRRUN foam with a low 4 mm drop. At 243 g it is lighter than most shoes at its price.
It suits you if you want an honest, light daily trainer at the bottom of the range and you already get on with a low drop — the easy and steady miles that fill an ordinary week, not only the cheap ones.
It is not a premium trainer and it is not a fast one. The bio-based EVA underneath does less for you than Saucony's superfoams do, the low drop asks more of your calves than a taller-heeled shoe does, and there is no plate or rocker helping you hold a pace.
