The Deviate Nitro 3 is PUMA's plated trainer. A carbon PWRPLATE runs through NITROFOAM, the heel stack is 39 mm, and the 10 mm drop keeps the landing familiar. It is quick without being a race shoe, which makes it a rare thing: a plate you can afford to put mileage on.
It suits you as the workout half of a two-shoe rotation, and it stretches comfortably to long runs and marathons if you like a firmer, more directed ride. At 250 g it is light for what it carries.
It is not a recovery shoe. The plate keeps the ride stiff, and on genuinely easy days that stiffness works against you. It also has no business on a trail.
