The Cloudboom Strike is On's marathon race shoe. A spoon-shaped carbon Speedboard sits inside Helion HF foam, and the 4 mm drop puts you forward onto the plate rather than back on your heels. At 210 g it is light for the amount of foam underneath it.
It suits you on race day over the half and the full, and on the handful of sessions where you want to rehearse that feeling. The ride is directional and it rewards a runner who is already moving quickly.
It is not a daily trainer. The foam does not last the way trainer foam does, and running easy miles in it wastes both the shoe and the point of owning it. Buy it for the races you care about.
