The 002 is the low one in norda's range: a 19 mm heel, deliberately close to the ground so you feel what you are running on. A Vibram SLE midsole and a Litebase Megagrip outsole handle grip and wear, a pyramidal midsole shape keeps the foot over the platform on uneven footing, and the upper is one seamless piece of bio-based Dyneema that barely takes on water.
It suits you if your trails are technical and you would rather have precision and ground feel than foam. If you want the same upper with more under it, that is what the 001A is for.
It is not a cushioned shoe, and norda says so itself. At 249 g on a stack that low, long runnable miles are less comfortable than in the taller 001A or 005, and it runs small enough that norda tells you to size up a full size.
