The 001A is norda's ultra-distance shoe, and its numbers are deliberately modest: a 26 mm heel, a 5 mm drop and 5 mm Vibram Megagrip lugs over an Arnitel midsole that keeps its rebound when the temperature drops.
It suits you if you run long on rough ground and care most about a shoe that does not come apart. The seamless Dyneema upper barely takes on water, which matters more at hour six than at hour one, and norda tells you to size up half a size because it runs small.
It is not a plush shoe. At 268 g in a US M 8.5 there are lighter options for a short race, and the ride is firm and connected rather than soft underfoot.
