The Vomero Premium is the top of Nike's maximum-cushioning line and the tallest road shoe the brand builds: a 55 mm heel stack of ZoomX foam with one Air Zoom unit exposed at the heel and another at the forefoot. Nike designed it around the way elite marathoners use anti-gravity treadmills: take the impact out of the miles so the legs accept more of them.
It suits you if pounding is the thing that caps your weekly mileage: easy days, recovery days, and the long run. Keep something lower and firmer for the days with intent.
It is not a fast shoe and it does not pretend otherwise. There is no plate and it is one of the heaviest trainers Nike sells. That much foam is also less settled than a normal trainer on cambered roads and through tight corners, so it wants open, straight running.
