The Revolution is the cheapest running shoe Nike makes. It is a plain build — one soft foam midsole under a 10 mm drop, a forefoot with more room than the version before it, and a rubber outsole patterned for grip up and down a hill — and at roughly 286 g it is lighter than most of the trainers above it in the range. It is aimed at someone starting to run, or at anyone who wants a simple pair for short, easy miles.
The ride is soft but basic. There is no Air unit, no plate and no clever foam, and you feel that on a longer run when the cushioning stops giving anything back.
It is not a shoe for serious mileage and it is definitely not a racer. Take it as a first pair and move up when your weeks get longer.
