The Pegasus is Nike's default road trainer, and the 41 is the version most runners meet first. It is built for the runs that make up most of a week: easy miles, steady miles, and the long run at the end of them. ReactX foam under a 10 mm drop gives you a ride that is neither soft nor firm, which is the point — it does one job in the middle of the range and keeps doing it for a long time.
It is not a race shoe. There is no plate, and at roughly 297 g it feels heavy the moment you ask it to go fast. It is not a trail shoe either: the outsole is road rubber and will slide on wet rock.
Buy it if you want one pair to cover most of your week, and something lighter for the days that ask for it.
