The SuperComp Trail is the racer in New Balance's off-road range: a carbon plate and an Energy Arc midsole sitting on a full-length Vibram Megagrip outsole with deep lugs. It is built to hold a pace over rough ground, not to look after you on a slow day out.
It suits you if you race off-road and want the plated feeling you get on the road without giving up grip for it. At 277 g it is light for how much shoe there is, and it will carry an ultra if you are used to a firm ride underfoot.
It is not a shoe for easy trail miles, and it is not the one to learn technical ground in. The plate makes it stiff and unforgiving, and the foam will not last if you train in it. Race in it, and use something softer for the volume.
