This is the 880 with a GORE-TEX upper on it. Underneath, it is the same everyday trainer as the standard 880v15: the same 6 mm drop, and about three grams more on the scale once the membrane is in. The ride is the familiar one, and the whole difference is weather.
It suits you if you run through winter and are tired of starting every session by working out whether your feet will be soaked by the second mile. Cold rain, slush, wet grass on the way to the path.
It is not a summer shoe. A waterproof upper is a warm upper, it breathes worse than plain mesh as soon as the temperature climbs, and water that gets in over the collar stays in. Buy it as a second pair for the bad months.
