New Balance Fresh Foam X 860v15

New Balance's stability trainer — a Stability Plane instead of a medial post, for runners whose form goes late in a long run.

The 860 is the support shoe in New Balance's road range. A Stability Plane is built into the Fresh Foam X midsole to steady the foot, in place of the hard medial post older support trainers used, and the rest of it is aimed squarely at an ordinary week of running.

It suits you if your form goes late in a long run and you would rather the shoe dealt with it quietly than corrected you. A neutral runner will find it more governed underfoot than they need.

It is not light and it is not quick. At 331 g this is one of the heavier road trainers you can buy, and you notice the moment you try to run a session in it. Buy it for the miles, not the minutes.
