The Wave Rider is the shoe Mizuno has been refining for nearly thirty years, and the 29 is the version built on nitrogen-infused ENERZY NXT foam over the familiar wave plate. It sits in the middle of the range on purpose: 265 g, a 10 mm drop, enough foam under the heel to absorb an easy hour without feeling vague.
It suits you if you want one trainer for most of the week — easy days, steady days, and the long run. The plate adds a little stability underfoot without turning the ride firm, and the carbon rubber outsole holds up to road mileage.
It is not a fast shoe. There is no propulsion here beyond what your own legs give it, so keep something lighter for intervals and race day.
