Best for
At $130 the Kipsummit is an affordable way into KIPRUN's new trail franchise, which combines stability, grip and cushioning for tackling climbs and hurtling down descents. Soft foam underfoot, a toe cap up front and a lugged outsole do the work, over a 6 mm drop.
It suits easy and moderate trail runs, for runners who need grip and a protected toe more than they need speed. It is a sensible first trail shoe, and a fair everyday one.
It is not a long-haul or racing shoe. KIPRUN frames it for runs up to about marathon distance, and nothing here suggests a plate or race foam, so ultras and fast efforts need something else.
