The Trailfly Max V2 is the tall one in inov-8's trail range. A FLYSPEED PRO midsole stacks noticeably more foam under the heel than the rest of the line, and the 4 mm graphene lugs are tuned for hard, rocky ground rather than mud. It is aimed at ultras, the back half of a long day, and the runs you start already tired.
It suits you if your off-road miles are long and the ground is firm, or if you want a shoe that hikes as happily as it runs. Standard and wide fits both exist.
It is not nimble. At 300 g, with that much foam underfoot, you give up a lot of ground feel — keep something lower and lighter for technical descents and short races.
