Best for
The Hyperion 3 is the lightweight workout shoe in Brooks' range, built on nitrogen-infused DNA FLASH v2 foam that Brooks calls ultra-responsive and springy. The change from the last Hyperion is more of that foam underfoot, added for softness, while the drop stays at 8 mm.
It suits tempo runs and intervals, for anyone who wants a quick neutral shoe that is a little kinder than the previous version. The ride is springy rather than padded, which is what a workout shoe should be.
It is not a cushioned daily shoe, and it is not a plated racer. The ride still leans firm, so long easy mileage is less forgiving than in a plusher trainer, and nothing here is built for race-day propulsion.
