The Divide 6 is the hybrid in Brooks' trail line: a road trainer's cushioning and an 8 mm drop, with a modest all-terrain outsole underneath. Brooks points it at gravel roads, groomed trails and park paths rather than at anything you would call technical.
It suits the runner whose route leaves from the front door and only spends part of itself off road. One pair covers both surfaces, and you are not clattering along the tarmac on deep lugs to reach the good bit.
It is not a mountain shoe. Those lugs are shallow, so wet rock, mud and loose descents find its limit quickly, and there is nothing between your foot and whatever you land on. For real trail take the Cascadia; for road only, the Ghost or the Launch.
