ASICS Metaspeed Ray

At 129 g, the lightest carbon racer ASICS builds - race day only, and not much of it.

The Ray is the lightest shoe ASICS races in - 129 g, with a midsole made entirely of FF LEAP foam and a deliberately minimal carbon plate that helps at footstrike without adding weight. ASICS calls the effect a Dynamic Drop Structure: the foam collapses so fast underfoot that the shoe behaves as though it had far more offset than the 5 mm it is built with.

It suits forefoot strikers, and anyone who wants the least shoe possible under them on race day from 10K up to the marathon.

It is not a training shoe and it is not forgiving. There is almost nothing between you and the road, so it asks for a strong foot and a decent racing surface, and it will wear out fast if you treat it casually.
