The Torin is Altra's cushioned road trainer, and the 8 is the version built on EGO MAX foam with a mesh upper and a moulded heel collar. Like every Altra it is zero drop, so heel and forefoot sit at the same 30 mm height, and the toe box is wide enough for your foot to splay under load.
It suits you for daily mileage and long runs if you already run in zero drop, or if you are willing to build up to it slowly — your calves and Achilles take on the work a raised heel would otherwise absorb.
It is not a fast shoe at 288 g, and the flat platform gives you nothing on a tempo day. Buy it for volume, not for speed.
