The Mont Blanc Carbon is Altra's trail race flagship — the brand's own "speediest trail shoe to date". A full-length Carbitex Monoflex carbon plate, chosen because it flexes with terrain instead of fighting it, runs between an EGO MAX rim and an EGO PRO core, on a 29 mm zero-drop platform at 309 g.
It suits you for fast days on technical ground: mountain races and hard long efforts where propulsion, underfoot protection, and Altra's level platform all pull the same direction.
It is not a heavy-cushion ultra hauler — the Olympus does the all-day comfort job — and $275 of race plate is wasted on easy trail miles. Zero drop at race intensity also assumes calves that have done the apprenticeship.
