Best for
The Escalante Racer 2 is the Escalante with the fat trimmed, keeping the simplicity and FootShape fit but making everything leaner and more responsive. EGO midsole foam sits under an engineered knit upper on a 22 mm stack with zero drop, and at 249 g it is built for the fast end of the week.
It suits starting lines, speed workouts and fast training runs, from tempo efforts through a five or ten kilometre race. The cushion is firm and low, so the shoe stays close to the ground and feels quick under you.
It is not a long-run shoe, nor one for anyone who wants a soft landing. The low stack and firm ride trade protection for speed, and zero drop asks more of your lower legs than a raised heel does once the distance grows.
